The Al-5.4Mg-0.5Mn-0.1Zr (wt.%) alloy was subjected to a low-temperature solution treatment at 360℃ for 6 h.As a result, nanoscale Al6Mn particles with round shape evolved.The alloy was machined into sheets, which are subjected cold or hot rolled with a reduction of 80%.Hot and cold rolling resulted in elongation of initial grain and increasing lattice dislocation density from ~1012 to 7×1013 and 5×1014 m-2 respectively.Then, homogenized and rolled sheets were joined by friction stir welding (FSW).
