Rheumatic heart valve disease (RHD) has become rare.We investigated the results of a standardized minimal invasive approach for RHD consisting in a right antero-lateral mini-thoracotomy (RMT), focusing on early and mid-term surgical and clinical outcomes.Between January 2003 and September 2009, 35 consecutive patients underwent valve procedures through a RMT,for RHD.There were 22 females (63%).Mean age was 63±11,8.AVR was performed in 19 pts (54,3%).10 cases were re-interventions (28,6%).Mean LVEF was 57,5%.Mean PAPs was 41,7±21,3mmHg.Mean EuroSCORE was 6,2±3,5.At the latest follow-up QoL was assessed with SF-36 questionnaire.
