Gender and age differences in management of heart failure (HF) and quality of care have been well documented.The POWER Study is conducting a comprehensive assessment of gender equity for common chronic conditions in the province of Ontario.In this population based study, hospitalization, physician claims and drug benefit data from the 2005/06 fiscal year were used to evaluate quality indicators for HF care in adults aged 45 years and older with an HF admission to Ontario hospitals (n=15,257), based on ICD10 classification.
