Virus-host interaction plays an important role on viral infection. However, it is difficult to study the interaction of Barley yellow dwarf virus-GAV (BYDV-GAV) and its wheat host in molecular level because of the huge and complex genome of wheat plant. For further understanding of the molecular mechanism of this progress, a new model plant for cereal, Brachypodium distachyon, was chosen to construct an alternative virus-host interaction system. The susceptibility of B.distachyon to BYDV-GAV was determined by inoculation of viruliferous aphids into this model plant.
