The plateau zokor (Myospalax baileyi) is a subterranean rodent endemic in the Tibet Plateau and plays an important role in the alpine grassland ecosystem.Knowledge on their seasonal movement patterns and home range are not only helpful in understanding their ecology and behavior,but also important for their effective management.During 2012 and 2013,we investigated the diurnal activities of plateau zokors using radio telemetry.The results showed that their diurnal movements had two active peaks.During the period of May to July,the activity peaks were detected at 1000h and 1800h sampling sessions for male zokors and 1100h and 1700h sampling sessions for female zokors.Between September and November,the activity peaks were recorded at 1000h and 1900h sampling sessions for males,and 0900h and 1700h for females.During May and July,the home range of adult males was 641.6±225.7 m2 (n=5) ,for adult females 107.5±20.7 m2 (n=3) and for juveniles 161.8±72.35 m2 (n=2) .During September to November,the home range were 688.4±245.5 m2 (n=4) ,249.8±51.0 m2 (n=6) and 209.6 ± 60.7 m2 (n=5) for adult males,adult females and juveniles respectively.
