A DNA double-strand break (DSB) resulting from exogenous DNA damaging agents or faulty DNA metabolism,is an extremely harmful type of DNA lesion, which causes mutations or cell death, and can lead to cancer and other genetic disorders. The safest mechanism to repair a DNA DSB is via homologous recombination (HR).Generally,HR involves exchange of genetic information between two identical or nearly identical DNA molecules.
