This presentation shows the roadmap for plating on n-type solar cells using RENA plating equipment solutions.The n-type bifacial solar cell concept will soon reach a considerable market share due to its high efficiency and cost attractive production sequence.However,silver consumption is often discussed as a cost driver for this technology.In order to provide a substantial cost down approach,RENA cooperates closely within the n-PASHA Alliance with ECN and Tempress to improve the n-PASHA technology in combination with RENA’s advanced plating technology.An industrially applicable fine line print and plating solution will be presented that allows further increase in today′s cell efficiency levels in parallel with a metallization cost reduction of more than 30%.This approach is applied on both sides of the solar cell using RENA’s modular platform of high throughput inline plating equipment.In addition to this application other beneficial effects to reach higher efficiencies will be presented.
