Penicillium species have been identified as potential cellulase producers for bioconversion of liginocellulosie biomass, but their enzyme systems and saccharide production have not been well investigated. In this study, a newly isolated strain Penicillium expansum YT02 was characterized in terms cf its liginocellulosic biomass degradation, enzymatic activity, and saccharification ratio. The optimal culture conditions for the strain were 30oC, pH 5.5, and an agitation speed of 130 rpm based on cellulase activity and saccharification ratio.
