In recent years, a new objective and research landscape has emerged for many scientific and engineering disciplines with respect to "sustainability" of the natural and the built environment.Within the general context of sustainable development, the structural engineering profession is heavily involved in many distinct aspects such as construction materials, energy efficient buildings, and hazard resilience of physical infrastructure systems.This paper describes the concept and approach to develop design guidelines of all-hazard resilient bridges in regions vulnerable to multiple hazards.
