Generally, strong intracycle memory is evident from the profile of the sunspot numbers and hence forecasting activities within an ongoing cycle is successful. In contrast, the intercycle memory remains hard to establish and cycle-to-cycle prediction is filled with uncertainties. The goal of the present study is to unveil a novel perspective on the long term intercycle memory of the full contemporary record of the solar cycles by means of complex network approaches that have recently been developed as alternatives to study long term variations in spatial and temporal domains.
