As C-dots are superior in the aspects of high aqueous solubility,outstanding photoluminescence(PL)properties,favorable biocompatibility,chemical inertness and easy functionalization,they have emerged as candidates for a variety of application prospect in biological and medicinal fields.Therefore,it is worthwhile to search for superior synthesis methods.Meanwhile,the mechanism of PL is still under debate.However,it is very important for achieving highly luminescent C-dots.So far,the biomedical applications of C-dots are focused on the bioimaging,biosensors,gene delivery and drug delivery,so it is necessary to expand the area of biomedical application of C-dots.Meanwhile,the biological effects of QDs also attracted increasing attention.
