Selective laser melting(SLM)is the only direct approach of additive manufacturing studied for the fabrication of ceramics. However,SLMed parts always contain a lot of cracks due to thermal stresses generated by rapid cooling of the parts after laser scanning. In this presentation, the effects of laser power, scanning patterns, speed and spacing on the residual stress of SLMed Al2O3 parts were investigated by means of fluorescence probes.
