Mangroves are among the most productive ecosystems, established at the intertidal zones of estuaries,backwaters, deltas, creeks, lagoons, marshes and mudflats of tropical and sub tropical latitudes.Fungi play an important role in the nutrient cycle and support the productivity of the mangrove ecosystem.Many studies on fungi in the mangrove ecosystem are available, but only a limited study has been carried out on the predominant soil fungi, Trichoderma sp.from the mangrove system of India, that too from our laboratory.
