It is intriguing to know if environmental stress experienced by parents can be inherited epigenetically to their next generation, i.e., the transgenerational inheritance of environmental stress.Population-dependent isolation and crowding are considered as social stress, critically affecting behavioral and physiological patterns. However, it is little known how the stress impacting on parents are inherited to their progeny. Here we undertook a study on the transgenerational effects of the migratory locust, Locusta migratory.
