In Drosophila, the olfactory information received by peripheral olfactory receptor neurons (ORNs) is conveyed from the first central relay station-antennal lobes (ALs) to high brain regions by several types of olfactory projection neurons (PNs).While the cholinergic PNs forming the inner antennocerebral tract (iPNs) has been thorougly studied, little is known about PNs forming other pathways. Here,we systematically examined the intrinsic properties, connectivity and physiological functions of the GABAergic PNs (mPNs).
