Bacteriocins are ribosomally synthesized antimicrobial peptides or proteins produced by one bacterium that are active against other bacteria,either in the same species (narrow spectrum),or across genera (broad spectrum).The purpose of this paper is to obtain bacteriocin-producing lactobacillus which were isolated from "jiaoke",a traditional dairy product from Inner Mongolia.The agar diffusion assays were used for screening.Identification of bacteriocin-producing lactobacillus was by gram-stain,and physiological and biochemical tests.Genotypic identification confirmed using 16S rDNA sequence analysis.
