Ionizing irradiation (IR) can produce clustered DNA damages, particularly double-strand DNA breaks (DSBs) in the organism.Ku protein is of central importance to DNA damage-repair and responses to IR in both animal and plant cells, which is a heterodimer consisting of Ku70 and Ku80 subunits.
