Metal complexes, besides being able to impart rich optical, electronic, redox,or magnetic properties to supramolecular hydrogels, also offer a unique geometrical control to prearrange the self-assembly motif prior to self-assembling.Here,we design and synthesize a cationic iridium(iii)– peptide complexes to investigate its capability of gelation in different solvent system and varied pH.During hydrolysis, assembled nanostructures can gradually transit to different states. This work facilitates the development related metallohydrogel and attempt to extend the iridium(iii)metallohydrogel molecules,in order to link the optical property changes to the different self-assembly state.
