Deep-water breaking waves provide a mechanism for mass,momentum,and energy transfers between the atmosphere and ocean.In this paper,numerical simulations of global seasonal distributions of whitecap fraction,W from our statistical model of wave breaking are presented.Numerical estimates of whitecap coverage are found stronger than models from field observations.Global distribution and Seasonal variation also highlighted geographic regions of persistently high whitecap fraction,such as the Indian Ocean during the monsoon season and high-latitude storm tracks.
