Silkworm is an important representative of Lepidoptera insect.Research on silkworm pathogens will greatly benefit to both sericulture and pest control.Here we collected or sequenced genomes of major silkworm pathogens, including fungi, microsporidia, bacteria and virus, and developed an open-access and comprehensive database, the Silkworm Pathogen Database (SilkPathDB,http://silkpathdb.swu.edu.cn).SilkPathDB encompasses annotation of genomic sequence and features,comprehensive analysis tools on omics data of pathogens and host-pathogen interactions, and supports sophisticated user-defined queries.The implementation of SilkPathDB integrates a Chado relational database that houses all data sets with CMS and GMOD supporting graphic view on genome annotations.SilkPathDB will develop modules and tools to promote research on silkworm pathogen classification, infection mechanism and host-pathogen interactions.This will benefit both studies on pathogens and development of the database.
