Plasma-induced degradation of Rhodamine B in aqueous solution

  In this paper.the degradation of Rhodamine B (RhB) induced by low temperature plasma which was generated in a localized zone under various conditions such as,the initial solution pH,current intensity,iron (Ⅱ) concentration was investigated.The results indicated that iron(Ⅱ) had a remarkble catalytic action on RhB.Detailed analysis of the kinetical indicated that the oxidative degradation followed first-order kinetics.Total organic carbon (TOC) and chemicaloxygendemand (COD) analyses showed that the dye was almost totally degraded.Hydrogen peroxide was formed and role of Fentons reaction was examined during the degradation.
