Proton exchange membrane fuel cells,directly converting hydrogen or methanol into electrical power,are expected to replace the traditional systems for energy generation. Nowadays,the most commonly usedelectrocatalyst for fuel cells,both in cathode and anode,is Pt or Pt based alloy supported on carbon black.However,it is necessary to obtain a more effective catalystof high catalytic activity together with low cost.To meet this demand,the support material should be designed and decorated to provide a suitable surfacearea as well as a good conductivity.
