　　Meiosis,which is essential for gametogenesis of sexual reproduction,is characterized by recognition,pairing,synapsis,recombination and segregation of homologous chromosomes.The sequential occurrence of these chromosomal events during meiosis is dependent on the generation of programmed DNA double-strand breaks (DSBs) followed by repair using the homologous chromosome as a template.
