In order to improve the performance of vanadium redox flow battery [1-2],it is important to determine the concentrations of vanadium with different valences in the electrolyte during battery operation.In this work,two kinds of solution containing V(Ⅱ)N(Ⅲ) and V(Ⅲ)/V(Ⅳ) were investigated by the UV-visible spectrophotometry (UV) [3],respectively.Concentrations (C) of four vanadium ions were correlated with intensities of absorbance (A) of UV.The concentrations of two vanadium ions in V(Ⅱ)N(Ⅱ) solution were determined by,C(Ⅱ) =0.6128A572.5-0.4991A6o6.5 (1) C(Ⅲ) =0.2196A572.5-0.2889A606.5 (2) Whereas,the concentrations of two vanadium ions in V(Ⅲ)N(Ⅳ) solution were determined by,C(Ⅲ) =0.1273A6o6.5-0.2889A675.0-0.0674A770.0 (3) C(Ⅳ) =-0.0113 A606.5 + 0.0127A675.0 + 0.0488A770.0 (4) The subscript of A is the peak wavelength.Different proportion concentrations of V(Ⅱ)N(Ⅲ) and V(Ⅲ)N(Ⅳ) were presented in Figurel and Figure 2,respectively.
