Background: Asian rhinoplasty,as well as other ethnic groups,still remains a challenge surgery for plastic surgeons.Precise clinical analysis and systematic plan preoperatively are widely accepted as the key to the success.Although varies of techniques of analysis published for other ethnic groups, a systematic approach for Asian counterparts remains a missing link in this procedure.Methods and Patients: A systematic approach and a manipulative procedure were developed concomitantly with concepts in facial balance and proper preoperative evaluation for Asian patients.A retrospective review of 110 cases in 2.5 years was performed to evaluate the effectiveness.Results: After 6-30 months follow-up, satisfactory results were achieved in 86% cases.Typical cases were also reviewed.Conclusion: The systemic approach in Asian rhinoplasty, as well as other published approaches in ethnic groups, presents a way to link these analyses and techniques, which leading to the individual aesthetic goal while more attentions are put on the facial balance.In the authors experience, the approach showed its advantages as simple, directly, predicable and instructive for optimal results.
