Freesia,one of the most popular and widely grown cut flowers in the world,is known for its colorful petals and sweet flower aromas.Using solid-phase microextraction (SPME) method followed by GC-MS analysis,natural floral fragrance compounds of two cultivars with significant difference in flower flavor were investigated,there major terpene compounds:linalool,α-terpineol and trans-β-Ionone were identified in the sweetest cultivar (red Freesia hybrida)which accounted for 22.98 %,27.03 %and 34.95 % respectively.
