  Amorphous carbon based catalysts were prepared by carbonation and sulfonation from several typical biomass,including glucose,microcrystalline cellulose,sugarcane bagasse,energy grass,eucalyptus and microalgae.The results of preliminary experiments on cellobiose hydrolysis showed that catalyst prepared from glucose performed the highest catalytic activity.Thus methods,like SEM,XRD,FT-IR,NH3-TPD and elemental analysis were employed to detect the characterization of the catalyst before and after sulfonation.Compared with other conventional solid acid catalyst,the catalyst bearing –SO3H,-COOH,-OH exhibit remarkable activity in hydrolysis of β-1,4 glycosidic bonds,and no other by-reactions can be detected in further hydrolysis experiments.After being used in reactions,the solid acid catalyst can be readily separated from the saccharide solution for reuse without loss of activity.
