  Severe damages have occurred to underground structures in recent earthquakes.Previous emphasis is mainly given to the seismic performance of circular tunnels under no-slip conditions, however, for most tunnels, the condition at the interface is between full-slip (no shear stress transmission) and no-slip (no relative shear displacement).It is suggested to in vestigate both cases when computing the forces and deformations in the lining, and the more critical one should be considered in design.This paper focuses on the seismic behavior of circular tunnels, of which the ovaling deformation is of interest, and dif ferent closed-form solutions for seismic analysis of circular tunnels are presented, and then numerical studies have been performed to validate the available analytical solutions.
