A Simplified Method for Nonlinear Analysis of Piled Raft Foundation Subjected to Vertical Loads

  A simplified approach is presented for nonlinear analysis of vertically loaded pile raft.The raft as well as the subsoil under the raft is divided into a number of approximate square discrete elements.Based on the elastic-plastic analysis of single pile,the interactions between pile and pile, pile and soil, soil and soil are taken into account to determine the stiffness matrix of pile group-soil system.The strength of soil varied along the depth is also considered in the analysis.By solving the equations of stiffness matrix, the load-settlement relationship of piled raft foundation and the load shared by piles and raft could be obtained.It needs no discretization of soil and pile along depth in the analysis.Therefore, the analysis procedure is more simplified and more efficient.Compared to the results of the finite element method, the boundary element method and field tests,the solutions obtained by the present method are shown in good agreement.
