Ancymidol, an inhibitor of plant growth, was investigated in this study as a medium supplement for long-term storage of Asparagus plantlets in vitro. The results showed when more than 0.15 mg·L-1 ancymidol was added to the medium, the growth of plantlets could be slowed down and the preservation was prolonged in vitro at 17℃.After 10 months conserved in ancymidol media (≥0.20 mg·L-1) at 17℃, all Asparagus plantlets could survive.A total of 75% Asparagus plantlets of PURPLE PASSION and 1770 could also survive after 16 months conserved under the same condition.
