Interventional Cardiology for the treatment of coronary artery disease (CAD) has been marked by thirty productive years of technological advancements.These advancements have included (in succession) angioplasty balloons, bare metal stents, and drug eluting stents (DES), the latter of which are currently the treatment of choice for CAD.With the development of Abbott Vascular s Bioresorbable Vascular Scaffolds (BVS), the next technological advancement for interventional treatment of CAD has arisen.
