Based on the actualities and design ideas of methods to resisting flood in Weihe River in Shaanxi,the problems of traditional flood defences and the negative effects of precaution were analyzed,afterwards the idea of human-water harmony and the concept of flood risk management were put forward.Humanity system,such as the leisure places,the culture of water and the water landscape were mixed together with flood defences systems such as the embankment construction and the bank regulation.The water quality and ecosystem in the basin were restored by the way of artificial wetland construction,bottomland construction and water governance.As a prerequisite to ensure the safety of peoples lives,the new idea of river regulation was put forward to meet the healthy development of the relationship between water environment and local economic progress,and to meet the sustainable development of the society.
