In recent years there have been ever increasing concerns over the negative effect of diesel particulate matter on human health and the environment.Particulate matter production has been reduced through optimization of diesel engine design however the post-combustion gases must be further treated to reduce the emissions to acceptable levels.To this end, Diesel Particulate Filters (DPFs) have been developed for the abatement of emissions from diesel engines in order to achieve compliance with increasingly stringent legislation such as the Euro Ⅴ and Ⅵ directives.
