Chitosan solution was treated with ozone (1.2 L/min) in the presence of pulsed electric fields (PEF) with a strength of 26.6 kV/cm for 10 min.The existence of a synergetic effect between ozone and PEF on the degradation of chitosan was found compared to the separated treatments.Changes of physicochemical properties of chitosan were measured by analyses of viscosity molecular weight (Mv), gel permeation chromatography (GPC), FTIR spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction (XRD).
