丁基橡胶(IIR)是以异丁烯和小量异戊二烯为原料,以氯甲烷为溶剂及三氯化铝为催化剂,在极低温度(-100℃)下淤浆聚合而制得的聚合物。丁基橡胶于1943年首先实行工业化生产,其改性产物卤化丁基橡胶于60年代实现工业化生产。 丁基橡胶为白色或淡灰色,无臭无味,玻璃化温度很低,不溶于乙醇和丙酮,耐酸碱,具有透气率低、气密性好等特点,气体的泄漏率仅为普通天然橡胶的1/10。
