Climate change modelling was used to evaluate changes in species distributions on a group of endemic grass-feeding leafhoppers of the Grassland Biome of South Africa.Up to 90 new species of leafhoppers in thisbiome weredescribed recently (Stiller, 2009a, b, 2010a, b, 2011 a, b).In general most of these leafhoppers were wingless and wide-feeding.Most overwintered as nymphs, fewer as eggs, with one generation per year and all were phloem feeders.Theywere considered asthe endemic component with up to 200 wide-spread and migratory species feeding on many grasses and found in most biomes of South Africa and throughout Africa.
