Glutathione-responsive nano-vehicles have gained considerable interest because several intracellular compartments such as cytosol, mitochondria, and cell nucleus contain a high concentration of glutathione (GSH) tripeptides, which is 100-1000 times higher than that in extracellular fluids[1].A Glutathione-responsive hybrid low molecular weight hydrogel (LMHG) has been constructed by co-assembly of C2-symmetric benzene-based hydrogelator BG and 4,4-Dithiodipyridine (DTDP) (Fig.1a).It is found that this hybrid hydrogel could disassemble in a reductive environment at certain concentrations of glutathione.
