Sweet potato (Ipomea batatas) is a world widely important crop,especially for Asia and Africa people.Major efforts are underway globally to increase sweet potato production via traditional cross breeding.Unfortunately,the hexaploid nature of cultivated sweet potato is blocking the molecular genetics and gene functional studies of this untapped food resource,leading difficulties in modern plant engineering to overcome the drawbacks of this crop.
