Objective: In order to reveal the effect of radial Extracorpeareal shock wave therapy (rESWT) for soft tissue diseases in shoulder, and the effect difference between rESWT with ultrasonic orientation and pain-point orientation was compared. Method: 126cases, 56 cases of subacromial bursitis (SB) and 70 cases of inflammation of longtendon of biceps muscle (ILBM) were treated with rESWT. 26 of 56 cases of SB were refered with rESWT of ultrasonic orientation, other 30 with rESWT of pain-point orientation; 32 of 70 cases of ILBM were refered with rESWT of ultrasonic orientation, other 38 cases with rESWT of pain-point orientation. The effect satisfied rate of rESWT for SB and ILBM were calculated. The satisfied rate both SB and ILBM were compared between ultrasonic orientation cases and pain-point orientation cases after rESWT. Results: Through 6 mouths follow up, the results showed that the satisfactory rates of rESWT for SB were 81.6%, and the satisfactory rates with ultrasonic and pain-point orientation were 91.9% and 70.3% respectively; the satisfactory rates of rESWT for ILBM were 89.8%, and the satisfactory rates with ultrasonic and pain-point orientation were 93.3%and 72.6% .The difference of satisfactory rates both SB and ILBM were all significant between ultrasonic orientation rESWT group and pain-point orientation rESWT group(P<0.05). Conclusion: Through the study, we considered that the effect of the rESWT for SB and ILBM were satisfactory, the effect of the rESWT of ultrasonic orientation was better than the rESWT of pain-point orientation for SB and ILBM. The ultrasonic orientation is of important role in increase satisfactory rate of rESWT.
