Tetrandrine is a bisbenzylisoquinoline alkaloid isolated from the broadly used Chinese medicinal herb Stephaniae tetrandrae.We previously demonstrated that tetrandrine is a broad-spectrum potent agonist for cell autophagy and exhibits potent antitumor effects in many types of cancer cells when used either alone or in combination with other drugs.
