Objective To evaluate the effect of health education on statins adherence in Secondary Prevention of cerebral ischernia. Methods 122 cerebral ischemic patients admitted in neurological department of General Hospital of CAAC between Feb 2012 and May 2012 were randomly divided into two groups, intervention group was given comprehensive health education while control group was given general education.Assess their statins adherence in 3、 6、 12month after discharged.Result 114 patients completed the follow-up, 52 in intervention group, 62 in control group.Patients in intervention group had better statins adherence than control group in 3、 6、 12 month after discharged (73.1%VS51.6% P=0.019、67.3%VS43.5% P=0.011、63.5%VS37.1% P=0.0080).Health education can significantly improve statins adherence in non-Medicare and less vascular comorbidities patients with no history of hypertension diabetes, coronary heart disease, and stroke.Health education can significantly reduce the incidence of ischemic cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases (3.8%VS 16.1% P=0.033).Conclusion Health education can significantly improve statins adherence in cerebral ischemic patients, especially in patients with no history of vascular risk or less vascular comorbidities.Health education played a key role in long-term statins adherence in non-Medicare patients.Health education can significantly reduce the incidence of ischemic cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases
