目的 Recently, heparin binding epidermal growth factor(HB-EGF),a member of the EGF superfamily, was reported to increase inasthmatic airway tissues. However, the role of HB-EGF in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease(COPD),another prevalentchronic airway inflammatory disease, remains largely unknown. The aim of this study was to assess the production of HB-EGF inthe airways of patients with COPD and to elucidate the possible role of HB-EGF in the tissue fibrosis of COPD.
