Over the past decades, a steady decline has occurred in gastric cancer incidence and mortality in many countries, but stomach cancer remains the second most frequent cancer worldwide, with about 12% of cancer deaths each year.A major strategy for facing this health care problem is the identification of at risk individuals, for prevention and early detection of the disease.The knowledge on molecular alterations, which are involved in the carcinogenic process of gastric carcinoma, may lead to new, and hopefully more effective means for controlling this lethal disease.We have conceived an endogastric capsule which is a simple, non-invasive and discomfort free tool for collecting gastric juice and exfoliated cells from the gastric mucosa.We hypothesized that through this method we could lead researchs for DNA isolation, RT-PCR amplification on analyses of genes promoter hypermethylation related to gastric cancer and allow an early detection of the disease.Three main component are concerned in that research: 1° the endogastric capsule (EC), 2 ° the Nature sharing, 3 ° DNA molecular analyses.
