介电弹性体发生形变的同时,会在材料的上下两侧发生电荷变化。介电弹性体被作为电容信号发生材料时,便成为电容型介电弹性体。如Fig1所示,其原理可以参照电容计算公式：C = εrS/(4πkd)。式中εr为材料相对介电常数,S代表两电极板的面积,d为两电极板间的距离。
