In nature, molluscs such as snail and mussels have evolved hard shells to protect their vulnerable bodies.Like other natural biomaterials, the shells of molluscs have been found to possess excellent mechanical properties, inspiring a great deal of biomimetic endeavours.In fact, in nature there is a species of fish called Mylopharyngodon piceus or black carp, whose main diet is snails and mussels.
