  Magnetic Pulse Process is used for crimping, cutting, forming and welding.We focus on this last use, and especially on tubes welding.The goal is to optimize the choice of the process parameters in order that welding occurs.The discharge of a capacitor bank in a coil generates an exponentially decreasing sinusoidal electric current.This creates a magnetic induction inside the coil and its variability induces an eddy current in the outer tube which leads this tube being propelled on the inner one.The way the two tubes enter in contact will decide if welding occurs or not.Three "contact parameters" are studied: the collision speed (speed of the contact point between the tubes), the impact speed (radial velocity of the outer tube) and the collision angle.These parameters are related with a set of geometrical, electric and material parameters of the process.By a first and easy optimization approach, one can find the more accurate setting of the process parameters, in order to obtain a given set of contact parameters.
