The coral calcification and metabolism at different life stages (larval, juvenile and adult coral,Pocillopora damicornis) were investigated to study their responses to ocean acidification. Our results showed that the coral respiration at all life stages increased at the early incubation under elevated pCO2,but decreased after 1 week incubation, suggesting that coral need extra energy expenditures to be adapted to high CO2 seawater at the early incubation.
