Plant peroxisomes mediate a variety of metabolic functions such as detoxification, lipid metabolism, photorespiration, and hormone biosynthesis and metabolism.Some of the functions are carried out through coordinated actions between peroxisomes and other organelles such as mitochondria and chloroplasts.The overarching research theme in our lab is to elucidate molecular mechanisms by which peroxisome biogenesis and function are controlled in plants.Efforts are focusing on dissecting machineries and signaling pathways governing peroxisome proliferation and communication/coordination between peroxisomes and mitochondria/chloroplasts, understanding the proteolytic regulation of peroxisome function, and defining the plant peroxisomal proteome.
