This talk will discuss the composition and role of biofilms in dental diseases.In particular the role of biofilm, or subgingival dental plaque, in periodontal disease will be covered.The role of microbial biofilms in endodontic lesions and the ability of biofilms to remain in place in dentinal tubules and parts of the root canal system.Previous concepts of pathogenic and non-pathogenic micro-organisms are now superseded by our understanding of microbial biofilms in dental diseases.
