Electroacupuncture (EA) has been used to treat menopausal insomnia due to its significant efficacy in clinic.Because there is a lack of animal model of menopausal insomnia and scientific evaluation to determine the efficacy of EA, the experimental studies on EA for menopausal insomnia are relatively poor. The aim of this study was to establish menopausal insomnia model in ovariectomized (OVX) rats, and determine whether EA could modulate sleep behaviors by recording EEG and electromyogram and mechanisms involved.
